Hey everyone, I'm curious about how SOM can handle over 3500mb on a 1080p screen. My tests showed it reaching 4500mb or more at full settings. Could there be a factor behind that? Also, I've made sure motion lag is turned off.
Previous reviews mentioning it reached a maximum of 3500 at 1080p even with the HD texture pack left me puzzled. My EVGA 980 Ti Superclocked ACX 2.0+ setup hasn’t consumed all my VRAM, which adds to the concern.
Checking MSI Afterburner or the in-game VRAM display? That’s misleading. Certain titles such as GTA V display a specific value that indicates reserved memory, not actual RAM usage. Reserved memory becomes inaccessible for other applications. SOM consumes a significant amount of VRAM, but are you running at full resolution? It’s possible you’ve adjusted the in-game scaling settings above the recommended level, causing higher resolution rendering and subsequent scaling down—similar to how SSAA functions.
We've got a clear winner here! The EVGA Precision X was showing incorrect data, and it was reporting 3500MB in-game. Thanks!
