I can clarify the situation clearly. Using 8GB of RAM temporarily works well with your i5-11400F and the 2070 Super, but you’ll need to ensure the components are compatible. If you want a smoother experience, adding more RAM first is often better, especially if you plan to run demanding software or games.
You're welcome to use it with an 8GB setup right away—it won't cause any issues.
It’s going to perform poorly... affordable RAM available at 16GB right now
Did you purchase these components or does this represent an existing setup? If it's the former, it's a poor deal unless you found them at a discount. The issue with running 8GB is single-channel which severely limits CPU performance. Using DDR4 memory is inexpensive, especially under 3200MHz chips; consider buying a couple of M378A1G43EB1 or HMA42G6AFR8N models in the 2133 bin and opt for a slight overclock to 3800MHz.
It seems the setup quality isn’t great—possibly a discounted used system. The 8GB RAM might not handle most titles well, and Windows is already using a lot of memory.
