I have limited funds. Can a new thermal paste help maintain temperature? Is there a way to use the stock cooler together with it?

The stock cooler functions adequately, though it may struggle under maximum capacity. Using new thermal paste can provide some improvement.

Are the fans triggered to increase speed when the CPU overheats? Be aware this machine is around 6 to 7 years old.

They'll make it run faster as the CPU heats up. It becomes noticeable at full fan speed, but not overly loud. I'm relieved we've moved past the Optiplex GX 280 or the 'jet engine' setup.

I don’t mind the noise at all—I’m in the basement next to my loud furnace. I’ve been working really hard on this PC and have already made a lot of improvements. Thanks for your support!
