Check if your CPU or motherboard has faulty DIMM slots.
Hi all! I recently built a PC with the following specs: Motherboard: GIGABYTE Z790 Aorus Elite AX (rev 1.1) CPU: Intel I9 14900k RAM: 64GB DDR5 @ 6000MHZ (2X32) G.SKILL Trident Neo Z5 GPU: GIGABYTE RTX 4070 TI AIO: Arctic Liquid Freezer II 360 Storage: 2x KINGSTON KC3000 2TB PSU: GIGABYTE UD1000GM For the first day, the system ran just fine (although the CPU temps were abnormally high), but after waking up the next day, I got a BSOD after about 2 hours of uptime. After booting back in, I got met with new errors every time. After some attempts, I managed to boot into safe mode to install a fresh version of windows, but I got the same errors again not long after. I then performed a Windows Memory Diagnostic, where I got this error: "The operating system couldn't be loaded because the digital signature of a file or one of its dependencies couldn't be verified" "File: \windows\system32\noskrnl.exe" "Error code: 0xc0000428" I then removed one RAM stick at a time, and when testing them both in slot B2 (slot 4), none of them got any errors. Now, when I try to even insert a stick into A2 (slot 2). It won't even boot anymore, and I'm just stuck on the DRAM light. The same goes for A1 (slot 1). It looks like this, so the only working combinations are either B1, B2, or B1 + B2 Here are some of the BSOD codes I have encountered: "IQRL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL" "QUOTA_UNDERFLOW" "PFN_LIST_CORRUPT" "SYSTEM_SERVICE_EXCEPTION" "KERNEL_SECURITY_CHECK_FAILURE" "REFERENCE_BY_POINTER" "MEMORY"MANAGEMENT" What I have tested so far: - Re-seating the RAM & CPU - Checked for any bent CPU pins - Updated/reverted my BIOS - Testing each memory stick individually with Windows Memory Diagnostic (both came back fine) - Updated all drivers What is most likely the issue here? Part of me hopes it's just the motherboard, but I'm having some thoughts that it might be the CPU as well, because it ran at quite high temps when I used it the first day. I'll have to cover all expenses related to shipment/testing on my motherboard if I return it and there are no errors, so I'd just like to make sure. All input here is appreciated!
This indicates you're capable of sharing the issue. Are you wondering if it's a new Windows version or if you recently moved files from an old machine?
