I was really concerned about it, but it's actually running fine. There were no crashes, though there was some throttling and performance issues from the 2950X single core. It wasn't a great experience overall. The 5950X is more affordable than the 12900K, but I'm unsure which one I'll choose in a year or two. I'm torn between the 12900K and the 5950X—anyone have an opinion?
listen, I was let down by the 12900k because it didn’t match my expectations about power and heat. I wasn’t anticipating how much it would consume. I prefer not to jump to DDR5 just yet—I want the technology to be stable. That’s why I chose the 5950X. It’s really affordable, even new, with a warranty, and there’s no room for compromise. If you want, I’ll wait another generation or two, then check back if Intel comes back.
