Another query about RAM: 1 unit of 8GB or 2 units of 4GB or 2 units of 8GB?

Initially I assumed it was a RAM problem too. But if it were RAM, Minecraft would work better. So it’s not really that.

Minecraft's RAM consumption can spike, leading to CPU activity as it handles data. Usage over 85-90% often signals low memory, with the pagefile taking over and pushing performance past full capacity.

Seems like what you're expecting is correct.

Thanks to everyone, at least I’m aware I’m dealing with a slow CPU.

I didn't mean it was bad—it's more than enough to enjoy Minecraft. I run it smoothly on my i5 6600 CPU, which matches your current specs. The issue might be the amount of RAM you have.

Minecraft is consuming roughly 3.5GB of RAM. My new Samsung 860 EVO might be handling it. The exact cause isn’t clear to me.

100% performance on the CPU, other components at 30% or less
