Hi,
I own an i5-3570K with an ASUS P8Z77-V motherboard (used for over seven years). I haven’t overclocked the CPU before and have been checking guides tonight. When I tried Prime95, it stabilized at 4.2 GHz. Does that indicate it’s already overclocked? Thanks for clarifying—I’m new to this.

It seems likely because the starting clock is 3.4GHz while the regular boost clock stands at 3.8GHz. If it runs at 4.2GHz, an overclock must be happening.

That's unexpected. I didn't take any action. It might have been set up automatically. However, I purchased it in its original condition from Newegg.
