Check if your Asus B650-E supports additional RAM.
Hey all, I bought the microcenter 7800x3d bundle and it came with the asus tuf b650-e wifi mobo. There's not a ton of info out there about this board and I wanted to get 32GB 6400 z5 royal ram for my build. Is there anything I'm missing? Gskill doesn't even show this board on there site, but asus has some other gskill ram that is on there QVL list. Any help is appreciated.
This bundle includes a memory kit as well. Are there any valid reasons for skipping it? These kits share the same PCB and memory ICs as the other Trident kits planned for QVL, but the XMP profile may not function properly. The 6400MT/s speed falls into an unusual range for memory speeds with Ryzen 7000 processors. In my experience, only about half of CPUs support 6400MT/s in single precision mode, and even then it’s not consistently reliable. In dual precision (2:1 mode), you’ll lose significant performance compared to running 6000CL30 or 32 in single precision. Unless you’re comfortable adjusting memory settings—which seems unlikely—opting for a 6000CL30 kit makes more sense for your Ryzen 7000 series system. Consider lowering the speed to 6000CL30 instead.
Use the RAM included with that kit—it works well. 6000 CL30 or 32 fits AM5 nicely. For the Z5 Royal, ensure it’s 6000 CL30/32 as well.
