i7 7700K runs smoothly at 5.0GHz with a voltage around 1.392V, but temperatures stay between 85-88°C under full load. It’s safe to avoid those high temps during games. You might consider sticking with the 4.8GHz option at 1.30V for better stability. The 1.392V setting is stable enough, though it can cause blue screens if you push it too far.

The voltage appears too high at 5GHz and might decrease over time. Have you considered removing the module? This should boost performance and likely allow you to reduce the voltage levels.

The key issue is: what performance boost does a 0.2ghz increase bring, and is the benefit worth the cost? For 4.9ghz, the difference is minimal compared to higher frequencies.

I agree...since you'll be using it far away, you'll want a fresh setup soon. I keep my 8700k at 5ghz across all cores, consistently achieving a boost of about 1.4v. I'm maximizing its potential right now to get the best value today. This approach keeps costs lower compared to upgrading to something like a 9900k or 3900x. When it finally fails...I'll upgrade to the newest high-performance CPU, hoping for even greater gains instead of just small improvements.

Sure, I've considered this and to be honest, I'm a bit nervous about making mistakes while trying to install. But I think it will be manageable once I gain more confidence. For 4.9 GHz I managed to reach 1.345 with temperatures between 74-77 LOL. Curious, how long have you been using the rig? Thanks for the feedback!

The rig lasted two years. The 8700k only lasted six months...before switching to an i5-8500, which is solid. I’d have stayed with it longer if I hadn’t played games.

In gaming...it's almost invisible. With advanced tools monitoring frame rates and their variability, the differences are subtle enough not to warrant attention. I could revert my graphics card to stock configurations, yet performance remains identical whether it's running at standard or high settings.

Absolutely, that's correct. With +200 MHz at Dmor, your CPU will heat up significantly—possibly up to 15°C or more. The optimal approach would be to boost it to 4.8 GHz, use slightly less power, and keep temperatures down as much as possible.
