You just encountered a popup warning about the Ramnit botnet. The interface feels unusual and the logo appears blurry. While you didn’t see any suspicious processes in Task Manager, you’re wondering if this is typical or if others are seeing it too. There are recent updates on Norton’s blog and social media discussing the takedown of Ramnit. It seems like a common response to such threats, but whether it’s expected depends on how your security software handles similar alerts.

Norton promotes itself frequently. That's typical. Just a note, consider switching to free alternatives like AVG, Avira, Avast, and Malwarebytes.

I've been using it for years, and the only alerts or windows I've noticed are the monthly reports.

If I were you, I’d move away from Norton right away. Consider using Windows Defender or AVG Free. Both are solid options; AVG might install extra software, while Malwarebytes is focused on protection.
