I purchased a Lenovo Legion Slim 7 with 16GB soldered RAM and upgraded it to 32GB SSD. Will the speed drop compared to using a separate 16GB stick? Many sources suggest minimal impact, but others argue it won’t be worth it since the laptop will feel much slower due to the soldered configuration. Someone on Reddit shared that their machine is running smoothly with this setup. Thanks for the advice!

It functions best with dual-channel support when RAM reaches 32GB, but may slow down if you add another 16GB. Benchmarks will reflect full dual-channel speeds since the extra 16GB isn't used. The exact impact is unclear, though a 16GB drive could prevent that problem.

Keeping a 32GB drive is still viable, but performance may drop once you exceed that limit. Switching to a 16GB stick could help maintain smoother editing without significant loss of functionality.

Just a little bit. It won’t stand out much. Plus, the RAM stick will still be significantly quicker than relying on your hard drive for the pagefile. Grab that 32GB of RAM right away.

According to @Naginata, staying ahead of memory issues will probably be more important than any performance reduction.
