Hi there reader, according to Intel's own spec sheet, the Intel i7-12700 can reach a peak boost of 4.9 GHz. However, my 12700 is hardly pushing 4.4 GHz on my P cores when they can be running at 4.8 GHz when I run a stress test on Cinebench R23 as you can see below. Throttlestop shows a red EDP Other under RiNG when Cinebench is running as well. I reset the BIOS to default settings and nothing changed. Since this is a non-k spec CPU I have no idea if I'm supposed change anything in the BIOS. I'm using the Asus PRIME Z690-P WIFI D4 if that helps.

It should have a thermal or power cap, which you can likely tweak in the BIOS to boost performance. Since I’m not very experienced with recent Intel non-K CPUs, you might find it challenging or possible depending on your setup.

It functions now since it reached 4.8GHz, but I’m not sure what caused the issue.

The highest single-core frequency this processor can reach with Intel Turbo Boost is 4.9GHz, according to Intel's specifications in their ark data sheet. It's important to monitor your temperatures during operation. For P-cores, the top limit is around 4.8GHz.

Noted, but from what you observed my central clock remains at 4.4 GHz instead of the desired 4.8

Under load conditions it works well. The screenshot shows max P-core frequencies around 4.8GHz, though it briefly reduces to about 4.4GHz. I'm interested in confirming whether the peak 74 ohm is set at 4.8GHz or 4.4GHz.

Because it's not a K part, the motherboard might be trying to restrict power usage. Open the BIOS and set PL1/2 to the highest level.
