I was assembling my PC and saw this PCIe plug lacking two of its gold components. Is that acceptable or should I replace it? The system running is quite high-end with a 3080ti and 13700K. Edit: Scanning through the remaining cables, out of my seven PCIe 8-pin connectors, two are missing the gold part. A few other cables also seem to lack them, which makes me wonder if this is typical. It seems unusual, but it should function. It appears Sense B is absent, which shouldn’t lead to issues.

It looks like the "Gnd" pins might be absent, which could cause problems since your system has a high power draw despite the 1000W PSU.

Missing a ground is frequent, but it’s unusual for Sense B to be absent when it shouldn’t cause issues... However, Sense B cables usually signal the GPU or any PCI card that it’s connected to an 8-pin rather than a 6-pin power supply. This helps the GPU understand available power. It might affect performance if the card requires more wattage.

It's acceptable, everything works fine. The missing pin connector fits into the power supply. The other PCI-E 6+2 slot goes into the video card. Likely, the power supply uses headers similar to EPS connectors (CPU power 8-pin), which have 4 x +12V wires in a row and 4 ground wires in the next row. Since PCI-E connectors only have 3 x 12V wires and 3 or 5 ground wires, it makes sense to combine them into just 6 wires on the PSU header. This way, both CPU and PCI-E connections appear identical, offering flexibility—like having two 8-pin cables or one CPU cable plus an extra PCI-E. Sense B was meant for sensing video card power usage but wasn't implemented, so those extra pins are grounded, making it simpler for manufacturers to connect them to the available ground wires.
