Check if the mirror stereo sound is enabled on the surround speakers and activate the "Speaker Fill" feature.
Hello!
I purchased a preowned AVR in April, specifically a Sony STR-DN1080.
My old system, a Pioneer VSX 528, had a remote button labeled "ADV surround" which let me listen to music in stereo and mirror it across all speakers in my surround setup.
That button and its functionality seem to be absent on my new device.
I thought I could find a workaround by searching for alternatives at the source—specifically using my PC with Windows 11.
I searched online and found the term "speaker fill," but the information I found was mostly about hardware or software that is several years old.
One approach mentioned was entering sound settings in Windows, highlighting the current sound system (my surround system), then clicking "properties."
Below the "enhancements" tab, there used to be a checkbox for "speaker fill," but it’s not present on my system.
Another option was to use the Realtek audio console, where the "speaker fill" function exists, though only my speakers appear in Windows 11 even though they are set as surround speakers.
I’m wondering if there’s a way to enable speaker fill or mirror stereo sound on surround speakers in Windows 11?
Also, why doesn’t the Realtek audio console detect my surround system when the drivers are up to date?
The Realtek audio console isn't picking up your surround system even though the drivers are current. Your AVR setup might not be connected via the correct analog audio port linked to the Realtek chip.
Thank you all for your message! I managed to fix the problem now. After resetting my AVR, I discovered that my PS3 slim could use the 2CHANNEL/MULTI STEREO feature while playing a CD soundtrack on the console. My sound settings in Windows were set to 5.1 surround, but switching to stereo resolved the issue. 😊
Your help kept my motivation strong!
