Is the I9 10850K a good purchase? It’s 450 USD less than the 5900X price here. Mostly useful for Photoshop, Lightroom, and some high-res edits. Not worth the splurge. Thanks.

The 10850K remains a solid choice. Given its lower price compared to the 5900X, investing in an AMD build would make perfect sense.

The 5800x stands as the top choice for the 10850k. It performs well even on workstations. https://www.pugetsystems.com/labs/articl...ndup-2106/

The article explains the performance of the 5800x and Zen 3 processors. With a good motherboard and PBO configurations, issues can be resolved easily. In an ITX enclosure using an L-12S socket, temperatures stay below 85°C.

I'll read it carefully, so 85°C is typical? I assumed it might be high at first.

It's on the higher end, yet still compatible with Ryzen. Ultimately, you'll need a good cooler whether you pick the 10850K or 5800X.

Testing in Photoshop 11th Gen with an Intel Core and AMD Ryzen 5000 series inside a compact case with a small air cooler showed solid performance. It stayed within acceptable limits. Coming from Intel, the 5800X might run hotter due to differences in their boost technology compared to Intel's approach.

I'm examining these components: Meshify C Baltas - TG FD-CA-MESH-C-WT-TGC side window cover and CPU cooler, along with the RGB Kraken X73 cooler.
