Check if the I5 7500 and MSI GTX 1650 create a performance issue.
I recently purchased a GTX 1650 and didn’t consider the CPU. Now I have an i5 7500 with 16 GB RAM on an MSI B250M Pro-VD board. Should I upgrade the processor or is everything fine?
They work well together. The 7500 might slow down some modern AAA games, but it still offers solid performance at 1080p.
Identifying the problematic games or apps is the first step. The i5 7500 and GTX 1650 typically handle most titles well, though certain scenarios may restrict performance.
I enjoy playing games, but when rendering videos it slows down. It looks like the processor isn’t strong enough since it’s running at about 90% capacity.
It might be worth exploring other factors. The i5 7500 wasn't designed for heavy productivity tasks. It's also important to check if you're using a hard drive versus an SSD, as storage speed can significantly impact performance. Are you feeling unsatisfied with the results you're seeing?
It might be due to the large storage setup you have—250GB SSD for the system and 1TB HDD for personal use. Could you recommend a solid-state drive? Around $50? Updated March 8, 2024 by Mr.Kubix2.0
When moving files between HDD and rendering, performance drops significantly due to physical read/write operations. Rendering multiple edited files together adds further delay as the read head constantly searches the HDD. You can evaluate whether the HDD is the main slowdown by testing on an SSD to temporarily store project files. If rendering speeds up substantially, prioritizing an SSD upgrade over a CPU replacement makes sense. If improvements are minimal, the CPU likely remains the bottleneck.
