You’re looking for Windows 10, but the product keys are expensive. Friends suggested cheaper options on sites like eBay or G2A. I wondered if using fake keys is okay and safe. Are those legitimate?

They are from the grey market and are meant just to turn on Windows, it doesn’t provide full access to Windows 10 features, only the essential functions.

They will activate windows just fine, but it's grey market, so illegal because it doesn't fit the CGU of Microsoft

It seems like you're discussing the importance of following legal guidelines. If you need a legitimate Windows version, purchase it from an authorized shop. If you're considering piracy, it's your responsibility. Paying for illegal licenses is problematic and supports criminal behavior. Personally, if I were a programmer creating a good program and someone made an illegal copy for personal gain, it wouldn't be a big issue for me. However, I would be very upset if someone profited from selling my work without permission or any benefit to me.

Avoid paying for Windows 10 by installing it without a product key. You'll retain most of its features, and the company will continue to profit from your data through sales.

No one should be a pirate. Opt for pirated copies rather than pretending that using Windows without a license is okay. It’s not allowed. Windows isn’t shareware or freeware.

It's not piracy if you're using it without permission and the locks are already built in. If Microsoft permits such use, especially considering past restrictions, it's acceptable. There are many risky options: installing a cracked version = harmful, modifying registry entries or requesting features = harmful, seeking ways to remove watermarks/popups without payment = harmful, using KMS activation = harmful, or trying to run an unactivated app = harmful.

They don't always confirm it's acceptable. Look for the exact wording in their documentation about using Windows without a product key. Earlier restrictions existed because sales relied on physical media like DVDs, which served as proof of purchase. Now Microsoft allows direct downloads from their site, eliminating the need for DVDs or USB drives and requiring proof of purchase. This approach saves costs for Microsoft, lets them distribute the latest Windows versions easily, and avoids risks from untrusted sources. Using it without a key still violates their policy, even if the software appears functional. Some might argue the watermark indicates it's free, but technically, it's still against their guidelines.

Interesting point. I’d suggest gathering insights from the community instead of seeking advice on pirating content.

Linus shared a tutorial about not turning on Windows 10 and choosing to just click Next during setup. After that, he wondered if anything happened and the installation proceeded without acceptance. I plan to rewatch the video.
