I'm considering upgrading my Intel i7 5820K with a GTX Titan X(M). My system is already water-cooled, which makes changing parts tricky. I'm trying to decide whether it's worth moving to a newer CPU like the 5960X or switching to a more powerful motherboard and CPU, such as a Ryzen 9 3900X. The problem I'm facing is noticeable FPS drops in WoW during raids, especially at 40-50 FPS. I've been using the same setup for about 4-5 years and it's worked well, but the instability bothers me.

You can achieve a 5960x upgrade, though HEDT chips are often seen as outdated. Plan to switch to Zen 3 (expected in Q3/Q4 of this year) and then choose your next platform. The 5820k should handle the task right now. Edited August 7, 2020 by TofuHaroto

The game has some coding issues, but with what I have I should see improvement in FPS. Maybe checking for a fix in WoW to better use my hardware would help.

Check for a slowdown using @Moonzy’s tip first. If it helps little, try removing your GPU drivers via DDU in safe mode and then reinstall them.
