If the game supports hosting your own server, I suggest adjusting HOSTS files and using extra firewall tools. This helps block unwanted traffic from other players' machines onto your server.

I use these tools for a full system cleanup: Malwarebytes, Hitman Pro, and Ccleaner. The last two focus on removing unwanted software, not viruses, though some include superantispyware features.
