Hello, I'm just starting out with building PCs and encountered a problem while setting up my new machine. Everything seemed fine until I tried to power it on after finishing assembly. When I pressed the power button nothing happened. I double-checked everything to ensure it was properly seated—CPU, RAM, GPU, case fans were all in place. I thought the power supply might be the issue, so I verified the cables and confirmed they were correctly connected. To test the PSU, I used a paperclip in the 20+4 connector and it turned on. When I tried to boot with the paperclip inserted into all lights and fans, the computer started but there was no display. I suspect the issue might be with the 24-pin socket or its pins not functioning properly.

Ensure the power cable is securely connected to the front panel header pins. The 24-pin adapter should link to the CPU's 8-pin socket. Once the power supply is connected and turned on, expect at least one LED to illuminate on the motherboard (if a power switch is present). The PSU will provide 5V standby power to the motherboard immediately after activation. The chipset receives this power and waits for the on button to activate. During initial boot, it may take up to a minute for BIOS to initialize and display on the screen. Be patient. If nothing happens, a BIOS update might be necessary. Certain motherboards allow BIOS updates without the CPU installed by using a USB drive and pressing a specific button.

I waited roughly two minutes before everything started working and the screen appeared. It must have been the pressure of setting up a PC for the first time that affected me. Thank you again for your assistance.
