Looking for ways to fix my mom's old computer under 100 dollars. A friend checked some options and thinks the problem is with the motherboard. It’s about three hours away, so I need to confirm I get the right parts before the holidays. The PSU is an Aspire M5700 AM5700-E5720A, and the motherboard model isn’t clear—possibly a G45T-AM2 with V1.0 GC and 9800 GTX+. Memory is DDR2, but I’m unsure if it’s the exact model or an updated version. The CPU is an Intel Core 2 Quad Q8200, which is hard to find cheap, especially since it’s a micro ATX unit. From what I saw, the case might not fit a larger one. I found a listing on eBay that looks promising but I’m not sure if it works. Would you recommend alternatives or cheaper options for this setup? I’m in eastern Canada. Thanks!

Hey! Listen, your mom's computer should stay out of that junkyard. It’s slow and outdated, making repairs tough or even impossible. Buying it now might cost more than you think, but if you’re on a tight budget, you can easily find affordable i3 or i5 models for around $80–$150 on eBay (like the one linked). Just add your old drive to the new machine and it’ll run much better. Good luck with your search, and feel free to ask if you need help!
