Check if gaming mode is causing overclocking in MSI Gaming, and find ways to reset it.
Hi, I was experimenting with the MSI gaming app on my PC and wanted to check the gaming mode settings, but after pressing it I got confused about how to exit it. I need to reset it so it returns to its original state without any buttons selected. I saw some discussions online suggesting a standard setting, but I want to confirm that. Also, is Gaming mode overclocking? I don’t want to risk my warranty by doing that. Can I use the cooldown button or silent mode without causing any damage or overclocking? My Intel i7 6700 (non K) shows 3.4 GHz on the box, but it’s running at 3800-3900 MHz when in gaming mode. EDIT: It actually reaches 4000 MHz, which seems higher than its listed speed. How is that possible if the CPU is only 3.4 GHz?
Here are my specs:
Motherboard: H170A Gaming PRO
GPU: MSI GTX 970 Twin Frozr.
CPU: Intel i5 6700 (non K)
Cooling: Corsair h55 watercooler.
1 TB harddisk and 120GB samsung SSD.
you don't reset it, just pick a different mode. It should offer three options, which is what my MSI gaming 5 MMO card uses.
