Hey everyone, I've been away from the scene for a while. My friend asked me to assemble a PC within roughly 2k AUD, but I haven't been in contact with new hardware lately. His old machine is currently showing blue screens randomly and is quite outdated, so an upgrade is necessary.

He mainly plays League of Legends and other light games, but needs the ability to run newer titles smoothly with decent settings. My goal is to maximize value from his budget, which is why I reached out to you all!

The price shouldn't cover peripherals or a monitor since he already has one, and it can be upgraded later.

Estimated purchase date: not set yet – let's act soon.
Budget range: around 2000 AUD.
Usage priority from most to least important:
Gaming - Streaming
Parts not required:
Peripherals, OS, Monitor
Best websites for parts:
Mix of Australian sites – preferably based in Melbourne, VIC for easier pickup.
Country: Australia
Parts preferences:
No specific choice – just value for money!
Overclocking: no
SLI or Crossfire: no
Monitor resolution: 1440p for gaming
Additional notes:
Looking forward to your suggestions!

For an AMD setup, I began with the Ryzen 5 7600. The X model offers a bit more speed for a modest price increase, but it lacks a cooler in the box, so I opted for the base 7600 to save some money. The AM5 platform also offered a solid upgrade route if your friend is looking for more power later.

The motherboard isn't crucial as long as it supports good input/output and includes WiFi 6E with Bluetooth. In that case, I considered the MSI Pro B650M as a strong option. It provides numerous USB 3.1 Gen 2 ports for quick data transfer, built-in WiFi 6E, and an onboard BIOS Flash back button for easy troubleshooting.

Memory performance isn't a major concern unless Ryzen needs high latency to run optimally. I chose a 32GB G.Skill Trident Z5 Neo kit with speeds of 6000 and low latency of 30. It's also AMD Expo certified for optimal compatibility.

For storage, Samsung delivers the best SSDs, so I selected a standard 990 Pro 1TB for your Windows installation, paired with a 2TB mechanical drive for game storage.

Nvidia isn't ideal unless you're prioritizing cost over performance, unless your friend is keen on Nvidia's unique features. The AMD Radeon 7800XT is a powerful card with ample memory for upcoming games with higher textures and larger worlds.

The case choice was personal, but I went with the Month AIR 100. It has mesh front panels for good airflow and includes four fans.

I connected the Corsair RM850e to supply power, ensuring it can handle your friend's system while leaving room for future upgrades in storage, memory, or CPU. I've attached the complete build list here for your reference.

The only concern I have about that board is this:
LAN: Realtek GbE LAN chip (1 Gbps/100 Mbps/10 Mbps)
