Hello everyone, I'm just starting out here.
I'm considering upgrading my GPU after using a GTX 970 for a while to a RX 6700 XT. My total estimated power consumption is now 364W, and it jumps to 449W once the GPU changes. My current PSU is the "EVGA SuperNOVA 550 G2 550 W 80+ Gold Certified Fully Modular ATX Power Supply". I'm wondering if this is sufficient or if I should invest in a more powerful PSU. The numbers used come from PCPartPicker.

If your overall power consumption is 364 with the GTX 970, then it should consume 90W more with the RX 6700 XT when running at full capacity. Please share your system specifications. Also, according to PCPartPicker, my estimate is 558 W. I’m having trouble getting the system to hit 500W at the wall while all components are operating at maximum.

The calculation results in about 83% of the total PSU power being used. Is that acceptable?

Despite the 7-year warranty and its strong initial performance, I’d consider swapping it for a newer 650/750W PSU just to be cautious. The age and wear are a concern.
Even AMD suggests a 650W model, and it’s possible you might need more power later.
A suitable alternative would be:
750W or 650W

Thanks, you've highlighted some valid concerns. I'm considering the EVGA Supernova G7 750W but since it's out of stock, I might opt for the G6 instead. I've had a positive experience with the Supernova before, so I'd like to stick with them again.

Evga's SuperNova models are powerful. The 750W capacity is more than sufficient for the 6700XT. It's a solid, quiet (during regular use), dependable power supply with full modularity—an excellent option!

This product was recommended by Seasonic. EVGA does not provide power supplies.

The G7 is produced by FSP and is superior to the Seasonic-made G6.

He mentioned it wasn't available, so they opted for the G6 from Seasonic instead.
