I'm considering upgrading my MacBook Air 2020 i5 with an additional 8GB RAM. Is this amount sufficient for running MacOS reliably over 8 to 12 years?

Viewing YouTube (Safari or Opera), completing work assignments, playing some TF2 or Roblox games (I’d likely do it on my current desktop), editing medium videos using Olive Video Editor or iMovie, and creating Roblox animations (I’d also sometimes do it on my current desktop)

Are you sure you need a Macbook for this task? You could get better value with any other laptop, and it would be easier to upgrade later.

It seems like a Lego-style game. I can't ensure it will last 8 to 12 years since future trends are uncertain, but I can say it should cover at least 5 years if usage remains steady.

We should consider upgrading SODIMMs with Windows laptops, as it will likely be simpler. You can actually upgrade them, and microchip chips are commonly used with Windows laptops and are easily accessible.
