I got GTA on sale a few months ago to mess with mods/to mess around without cops but i cannot play the game in the native 4K resolution of my screen. Because if i do i only get 35-45 fps if i am lucky, but also massive amounts of lag when things explode etc. I'm no expert in this and it will sound deranged but when i play in 1920x1080 the fps is obviously a lot better as it goes over 90+, but the graphics genuinely bother me as they obviously look stretched and weird. But it's like me and all 3 protagonists are drunk/need a cataract operation (car license plates look really weird and blurred from even a small distance until i am right on top of them and trees/hedges look hazy too) . I've only got a 5500 XT 8GB OC which is at the default clock speed etc as i don't mess with that sort of stuff, 16GB 3000 Mhz DDR4 RAM and a I7-7700K at 4.2Ghz. My monitor is a Samsung LU32J590UQUXEN, the game also flickers a lot too and even in 1440p the graphics still look strange like i mentioned above, but all my drivers, radeon software and so on are all up to date as i check constantly for updates. The only other game i have that is strong graphics wise is the witcher 3, which i play in 1440p and get between 50-60 FPS with no flickering or weird graphics because all my other games are old like GTA 3, VC, SA and L4D so it doesn't happen in those games. Do i need to use virtual super resolution in Radeon or is that for smaller monitors? Thanks

Is this a query?
You're wondering why you can't run GTA V in 4K on a budget card? Well if that's the issue...the explanation is right there...because it's a budget card!
I'm aiming for a PC for $200 and wanting to stream everything in 8K (my monitor is already 1080p, which is close to 8K), but...well, okay.

I don't understand how to enhance the game's appearance on a 1440p or 1080p screen using AMD Radeon software or settings. I only play older games like GTA 3, and I know the card can't handle 4K.

You might want to check if Radeon Image Sharpening enhances the picture quality. Alternatively, you can adjust the scaling mode in the drivers to 1:1 to prevent an exaggerated image.

Virtual Super Resolution aims to boost image quality by generating a higher resolution version and then reducing it, which isn't beneficial in this case.

The feature you need is referred to as "GPU Scaling" and "Center."

4K matches the exact resolution of 4x 1080p displays, doubling both vertical and horizontal clarity. This ensures that games or videos at 1080p appear sharper on a 4K screen compared to lower resolutions like 1440P, making it wise to boost image quality when using 1080P instead of higher settings.

Strange visuals or stretching might stem from the game altering its aspect ratio, which should be 16x9, and from playing in a windowed mode rather than full screen. These are typical causes for flickering or distortion.

Regarding AMD driver configurations, try adjusting them individually after testing in-game settings. Making multiple changes simultaneously can lead to unpredictable outcomes, making it hard to track what action caused the change.

I'm currently using 1920x1080 resolution with maximum settings in full screen. I'll test those adjustments now and observe the results. Thanks

Tried some adjustments and ended up with a small image framed in black. Honestly, this is the best it's looked for a long time LOL, but it still isn't perfect and people can message here if they'd like.
