Check functionality without a display.
I recently bought myself a Samsung Galaxy S6 in gold, which looks quite appealing. While browsing on Facebook Marketplace, I saw the back glass was swollen because the battery had grown. It wasn’t a major problem—I replaced the battery for £7.50 and continued. The main concern is that it lacks an AMOLED screen or a digitizer. I’m sure it functions properly since it shows “Fast charging” on my power bank, and the phone gets warm during charging, even after holding the power button. My biggest worry is a possible fault. As someone without expertise in older Samsung models, my S6 isn’t vibrating, the blue/teal LED lights up when it starts, and the home/back buttons don’t respond. Could this be caused by the missing display? Also, after flashing the latest Android 7 ROM, it seemed to install successfully according to ODI. My question is whether I can test this device without a screen before spending a lot on an official AMOLED model around £70? I think it should start at the “Welcome” screen where you choose languages and similar features, but I’m not entirely certain.
