Check for Windows memory leaks by monitoring processes and system resources.
I believe there might be a memory issue on my system. When I power it on, let it sit for a few hours, and the idle RAM usage jumps to around 13 GB. That’s only from the RAM itself; the page file is using about 4-5 GB. This causes the computer to slow down during regular tasks like browsing or watching YouTube videos. I also need to restart if I’m doing memory-heavy work such as Lightroom, Photoshop, After Effects, or Premiere Pro. After a restart, it returns to roughly 4-5 GB idle usage (without the page file). I’ve updated most of my drivers, but nothing points to the cause. Any suggestions? I’d rather restart every few hours than risk reinstalling everything. Here’s what I have: 4670k RAM, 750 TiB DDR3, 16 GB, 1600 MHz, Corsair RAM, Samsung 840 EVO 120 GB (OS & apps), WD Blue 1 TB (media and extra programs). Thanks, Gershy13
Check for a leak, identify the specific program if possible. If not, accept the need to reinstall.
Start the computer and keep it running for about an hour to check for issues. Test each program one by one. You might also search online for known memory problems in specific applications.
It occurred only after I upgraded to Windows 10, not on Windows 8. No new software was added during the update. This seems like a background service issue, since the only programs I use when it starts are Chrome.
Consider checking for Win10 notifications first (search for tips on high memory usage). Open Settings, go to System, find Notifications & Actions, and turn off "Show me tips about Windows." Restart and verify the issue resolves.
You are limited to choosing from just these two options. Which one would you like to proceed with?
I strongly question this, since I sometimes skip opening it and it still occurs. Also, I don’t wish to risk losing my saved browsing information.
