Check for updates on Windows 10.
When preparing to install Windows 10, ensure you choose the professional edition or avoid updates altogether. It updates automatically without consent and may disrupt your activities like working, gaming, or streaming. (For the non-pro version) I’m currently testing it on my machine and it attempted an update, erasing all my changes. My friend shared this on Facebook. Is this accurate? Could it be limited to temporary versions? Can it be disabled to prevent interruptions?
Updates must be saved and set up in the non-pro version. They won’t immediately shut down your device. Expect a message like “Restarting in 10 minutes” or similar. For details, check the provided link.
The test version is the Pro edition, where modifications are possible. It's concealed in the updated settings area, close to the update options.
Pro only lets you postpone the updates by a week each time. Regardless of the method, they will still install them eventually.
The consumer editions of Windows 10 don’t let you turn off automatic updates, so they won’t stop the downloads. The professional version gives you the option to disable them. That’s why I went with Windows 8.1 Pro from the link provided instead of the standard 8.1 or other versions.
The enterprise version is the only method to completely disable updates. That’s disappointing. To be honest, Windows Updates is the worst part of Windows. If Windows 10 is identical to the Windows 10 Tech Preview, I’ll go back to Windows 8.1. I won’t tolerate the update approach used in the Tech Preview—it’s destructive and very annoying.
