You're considering whether to apply the latest BIOS update for your i7 7700K and Asus IX Formula board. Despite recent performance issues like game stuttering, Microsoft claims your CPU isn't compatible with Windows 11. It might still be worth checking the BIOS update, especially since you regularly update other software to stay current.

You can operate Windows 11 smoothly. Avoid using the Windows Update feature. Enable TPM and secure boot, then perform a clean installation from an ISO file. The update will automatically activate secure boot and TPM.

You’ll likely need to enable automatic updates or manually check for new patches once you’re on Windows 11. The update feature may behave differently depending on your version and settings.

Microsoft mentioned you "may not receive updates." I performed the update on my laptop, which had TPM and secureboot enabled, though it didn't support a supported CPU. So far, it has received updates. I successfully installed it on a Core 2 Quad Q6600, and it got Windows update updates. It recognizes it's unsupported but still applies updates.
