I'm playing Black Desert Online and noticed it uses a lot of CPU power. I have the specs listed: CPU 13900ks, GPU 4090 AIO NZXT ELITE, PSU 1500W Corsair MOBO Z790, and so on. From what I see, my system is running at full load with fans spinning at 75% speed. The FPS drops noticeably when I pause, sometimes to 100 FPS then back up quickly. This happens especially in remastered versions where I experience stability issues. I cleared the min-max and waited a minute but stayed inactive. It seems thermal throttling is causing the frequency drops and stuttering. Some players have suggested disabling multi-core enhancement, but that didn’t help. Is this unusual to see such high temperatures after just one minute of inactivity? Any tips or observations would be appreciated.

The CPU appears to overheat despite minimal workload, so replace the cooler and check its impact.

It could be because of the many 16E cores, which aren't contributing much behind the scenes. Since games mainly use the main P-cores, the overall CPU activity might appear lower.

when the cpu runs at just 25%, it means the utilization is minimal.

Does your AIO receive clean, fresh air to help the radiator work effectively?

I'm using H9 Elite with Radiator on top. It's quite hot at the top, which might explain the issue. A side radiator with three fans and an intake could work better for this 13900K model. I've repositioned it several times. I also hear the pump running from 0 to 100, and the sound is clear—unless the airflow unit is the problem.

Recently, new intel CPUs are achieving impressive high temperatures, surpassing even their Ryzen counterparts. They share a similar architecture to threadripper models, designed for heavy workloads but with reduced efficiency.

I believe the pump speed should stay steady, around 40%, especially under light load. Edit: you mentioned the pump runs full power all the time? That might not be needed. Why boost the fans to 75% when temperatures are climbing? Updated July 22, 2023 by leclod
