Most people suggest upgrading the motherboard. If you're serious, you might consider a 9600 speed. It's unclear if it's worthwhile. GPU performance in games varies widely depending on the title and settings.

In most titles it was in the high 90s, yet in AC Odyssey and Battlefield V it shifts to the 80s

There’s little benefit to upgrading the CPU unless it really helps. Make sure resolution scaling is at 100% to get the most from the GPU and adjust settings like ambient occlusion. Also, take advantage of ray tracing if you can. Are you experiencing low FPS?

Both the CPU and GPU should operate close together for optimal performance. It's not a major concern.
