Check for performance issues with your i7-12700K.
Hey there, looking to purchase a PC soon for a mix of 1080p and 4K gaming. I’m planning on getting the 12700kf, likely overclocked, and the 3080ti just for extra power in flight simulator at 4K resolution when I start using my TV and later upgrade my monitor. I’ll be playing a lot of 1080p games, but according to this site there could be major performance issues. The Scs software titles like American and Euro Truck Simulator need strong single-core speed and are quite CPU-intensive at 1080p. Those PCBuilds articles worry me. Will the 3080ti cause a big bottleneck with the 12700kf at 1080p? Check out the link below for details: https://pc-builds.com/bottleneck-calcula...1920x1080/
Most premium cards should face a CPU limitation at 1080p, though it shouldn’t be too severe given your mix of 4K and 1080p games. Choosing another CPU probably won’t make a big difference, as you’ll still encounter some slowdown at that resolution.
The GPU performance would likely improve with 400% upscaling, and using MSAA in the NVIDIA Control Panel should also enhance it.
The more demanding the GPU is, the fewer constraints you'll face. This is my general idea, though I might be mistaken (just some basic knowledge). If your card generates fewer frames, your CPU gets a bit more space to breathe, which explains why you wouldn't be bottlenecked at higher resolutions like 1440p.
Great to hear you're getting the idea! Thanks for reaching out.
