Hi everyone. Yesterday I returned home after work and learned about a brief power interruption in my area. I noticed one of my monitors' LED lights was blue, which usually means it’s powered on and showing something. I always switch off my monitors when not in use so the light shouldn’t be on. Normally it should be orange, indicating standby mode. When I pressed the power button, the LED stayed on, so I unplugged the monitor. Now, when I try to start my computer, everything works fine, but this monitor isn’t producing any output and the screen doesn’t display anything—even though it’s getting power. I know it should be receiving power because the power LED stays blue. The power button doesn’t turn off, other controls don’t respond, and the change input button also does nothing. The display remains blank no matter which cable is connected. I’ve tried resetting it multiple times and holding the power button. I’ve also switched it to a different outlet. Since the button doesn’t function and there’s no OSD or menu signal, it seems the issue isn’t with the GPU, HDMI, or cables. Anyone have suggestions on how to resolve this?

Test by pointing a flashlight at the screen; if it works and the display remains empty, the LED might be faulty. Many monitors are prone to damage from power spikes due to lower build quality. Take a look at the Asus model that Linus disassembled—it was taped rather than bolted. If you can, you might be able to repair it, and I’d check iFixit.com for instructions or parts.

You're wondering if shining light on the monitor reveals any faint display, which might indicate a backlight issue. If you still can't see anything after shining light, it could suggest the LED screen is damaged and needs replacement. Regarding the unresponsive power button, there may be a problem that requires further troubleshooting.

You might turn on the screen and begin exploring. It provides a clear sense of the information available.
