Hello! Installing the CPU stock cooler can be tricky, and I understand feeling a bit anxious. The heat from the backplate might make it tricky to wait before powering up, especially since it's not the hottest weather in the UK. Just be sure to let it cool down a bit before turning it on to prevent any issues. Thanks!
How intense was your perspiration to the point it felt damp? The system seems stable. If you don’t notice any moisture left after cleaning the back, everything looks good.
Absolutely not like that! I didn’t notice any moisture. I used a torch to check, and it seemed quite dry.
Cleaning the area promptly with a cloth or paper napkin is advisable. Allowing it to dry naturally might leave salted sweat residue, potentially forming a conductive path if conditions are right. To ensure safety, disconnect power and possibly the battery to eliminate any electrical flow through the motherboard. Then, use a solvent such as isopropyl alcohol or acetone (nail polish remover) to wipe the surface. Paper towels work well, or plain sanitized alcohol can substitute. Wait for the solvents to evaporate before reinserting the battery, reconnecting power, and resuming use.
Thanks for your feedback—it’s a bit concerning. We mostly removed what was immediately visible, though it wasn’t a large section at first. I’m hoping most of the effort was on the backplate, and that I pictured sweat spreading to the motherboard. As mentioned earlier, I used a torch and didn’t see any sweat on the back of the board.
