I needed to perform a power drain to get it running, which seemed unusual. Then I experienced some tough restarts and realized it might be worth investigating further. Once the top slot SSD was out, I saw a small amount of oil-like residue. Besides cleaning it, should I consider sending it back for replacement?

It's a thermal pad oil that forms over time as the pads wear and release oil naturally. This is typical and doesn't cause any issues.
