my boss is upset because our team isn’t checking emails with to-do lists and important updates. I need a solution to get everyone back on track. The situation got serious today, so i’m seeking a way to improve communication and keep the workflow smooth. Any ideas would be great.

You might instruct staff to reply to all significant messages with "got it." This would help confirm who missed the content and allow you to implement steps accordingly. The method may vary based on tools such as Gmail or other platforms.

You can receive a confirmation as soon as the email is opened. I don’t use it personally, but my dad relies on it regularly. I’m not sure which option he prefers. He uses Microsoft Outlook, though I’m certain other email clients and webmail services offer this feature too. Try searching online—I’m 100% confident it exists. It functions like a delivery report for SMS, but it sends a notification once the email is viewed.

It's likely most email clients let you turn on a setting so the sender can confirm the message was seen after the recipient opens it. EDIT: GMails appears to be left out of this update as of August 3, 2015 by Wauthar.

I should have mentioned we’re using IMAP on Domeneshop for our emails, which might affect Outlook compatibility—I’m not confident about the client my boss uses for sending messages, so I could be mistaken.
