Check for BIOS updates on your motherboard.
Hey everyone. I just installed the latest BIOS for my motherboard (Asus x470-I, version 3004, dated 12/27/2019), but after the update several odd issues appeared. Once I reverted to the BIOS and tried overclocking RAM to 3400MHz, the system kept looping until I adjusted the clocks down to 3266. Now it boots normally, but games keep crashing—either after a short playthrough or when loading. Any suggestions? Should I revert my BIOS to an older release?
Refer to the standard procedure even when updating BIOS. Before initiating a flash, configure all settings and perform a restart. Then power down and erase CMOS. Once the BIOS upgrade completes, reinstall all defaults and restart again. If the device previously ran smoothly with its last BIOS version, revert to that setting. Avoid the update if the system performed adequately under the prior BIOS.
