Check for bios glitches or issues with RAM troubleshooting.
Hello everyone, I faced a challenge that I'm trying to clarify quickly. After turning on XMP in my BIOS on the MSI Bazooka b450m v2, I lost access to my system. I tried resetting via the CMOS jumper and removing the battery, but couldn't get back in. Eventually, I upgraded to a MSI b450 Carbon Gaming Pro (A/C), got a fresh power supply, and everything functioned properly. Once resolved, launching a game worked fine. However, after some time, I realized I hadn't enabled XMP before restarting. When I tried again, the same issues appeared—no display, fans at max, no progress, and it wouldn't reboot. After clearing CMOS, the system started up and the game displayed a warning about insufficient RAM. Windows reported 8GB installed, but HardwareInfo showed 16GB in dual channel. I performed basic checks like reinserting RAM, but even testing one stick didn't fix the problem. I suspect a faulty RAM module might be the cause, or perhaps I need to replace it. I'm seeking advice from others who've dealt with this situation before. Thanks for your help.
However, in that case wouldn’t I still be able to upload with the 8GB stick? I’ve tested both separately and in slots 2 and 4, but I can’t upload either one. Only when both are inserted can I post. Also, I don’t actually see a BIOS startup error like “no RAM detected” when they’re both removed; just a blank screen or strange behavior. Is this unique to AMD chips or just a minor glitch? Thanks.
It's unusual. Consider obtaining a check board that can be returned quickly. Inspect the RAM on that board. OR if it doesn't respond, the system might have a faulty motherboard, CPU, or power issue. - Remove the processor and see what BIOS displays. - Verify the 4 or 8 pin connector and the main 24 pin power connector.
