Hey everyone, a couple months back I assembled a new PC featuring a Ryzen 7 2700X, 16GB (2x8GB) Corsair Vengeance LPX at 3000MHz RAM, and a B450-F STRIX GAMING. Recently I upgraded my GPU and installed a matching RAM kit in slots 1 and 3, following the same layout as the motherboard manual—slots 2 and 4. I experienced several crashes, blue screens, and overall performance drops until I removed the extra RAM. Afterward everything worked smoothly (thankfully the £70 RAM wasn’t the culprit). I’m now considering purchasing another set or trying a different one, wondering if compatibility issues played a role. On the new unit, all specs matched the original—latency, speed, model SKU, and even the RAM version were identical. I checked my motherboard’s Qualified Vendor List and saw support for this RAM, but only in a dual-pair configuration. Is it really worth it to buy another identical set, or should I stick with what I have? Let me know your thoughts, Rhys.
I've already sent the second batch back. After checking some sources, I learned Ryzen 7 2700X supports up to 2933 MHz. I thought adding more RAM wouldn't change performance since my setup ran smoothly at 3000 MHz with 8GB at that speed. Now I'm considering switching to a 2*16GB module at 2666 MHz from the Qualified Vendors List for better capacity. I'll return them if they fail and stick with my current 8GB configuration. (Just in case you're curious why I need more RAM—I edit content and run a demanding flight simulator.) Thanks! Rhys
I've been facing the same problem. My system has a 2600x and initially worked well with two 8GB Gskill Ripjaws 3200 CL16 sticks for about a year. After adding more RAM, I experienced numerous memory-related BSODs. When I reduced the speed to 2133, stability improved. Now removing those sticks causes the 3200 XMP profile to fail completely. I'm unsure if I need a new board or CPU.
