Check cyberpunk gpu stats via task manager
I'm expecting this gpu reading to be incorrect, but while playing cyberpunk the task manager indicates I'm using less than 10% of the gpu. My cpu usage is around 50 to 80 and sometimes spikes up to 90% or even reaches 100% a few times. I'm new to PC gaming and don't know much about accurately measuring these stats, but I was a bit concerned. Using just the MSI center, my cpu temperature was at 39 degrees and gpu usage was consistently around 60% plus, fluctuating near that level. Does this seem typical? I've set all the options to maximum with performance DLSS and ray tracing enabled. The game runs smoothly at about 60 FPS and I've played nearly 40 hours before noticing anything unusual. I've also installed the latest drivers.
do you refer to msi afterburner or another msi motherboard control tool? and are you asking about cpu temperature? sitting at 39% implies a temperature of 39 degrees.
Yes, that's correct. I meant 39 degrees and the program is simply called MSI Center. I downloaded it to adjust the RGB settings, but it also has a monitor connected to a hardware device. It seems like it might be related to controlling an MSI motherboard. Sorry about the confusion during the pandemic, I might have missed some details!
are you monitoring GPU activity while the game remains active or have you switched to the desktop?
if this MSI Center offers an OSD for system statistics during gameplay, observe those metrics and compare them.
if no OSD is available, consider using MSI Afterburner+RTSS.
a significant CPU load in a demanding game isn't unusual.
generally, higher usage indicates the GPU is handling more frames per second.
60% GPU utilization while playing might be insufficient if graphics settings are increased, but the actual FPS will clarify if something's wrong.
a consistent 60fps is typical for this configuration.
the CPU temperature at 60% usage during such a game should be around 39°C, which is quite low.
this suggests either an inadequate cooling solution, a faulty temperature sensor, or an incorrect reading.
for a standard gaming rig, temperatures in the low 60s are normal.
if you're using a 360mm AIO with strong airflow in Cyberpunk 2077, you'd typically stay in the low 60s.
Ok, thank you. I will look into that!
Also, yes i am just alt tabbing around. I never really paid much attention to any of this stuff, i just randomly noticed that my cpu usage was 99% at a hard lock when closing it and it worried me.
