Hi there, welcome to the forums! I'm just getting started with building a new PC and have a quick question about my recent purchase. I ordered two 8GB modules, each 16GB total, of the Trident Z Neo 3800 CL14 RAM for my ROG Strix B550 F motherboard and Ryzen 5800X CPU. I saw on the ROG website and later on the QVL site that 3800 MHz isn't listed as compatible, but 3600 MHz is. PC Part Picker says it works with my board, which is confusing. Should I stick with the 3600 speed or go for the higher 3800? I just want to make sure it performs well with my setup.

It should function, though some manual adjustments might be needed. A 3800Mhz CL14 offers solid performance for Ryzen, but for a new user, a 3600Mhz CL16 would have provided a more straightforward setup.

DDR4 works fine, though not every memory model was verified on the QVL since it was a pre-release for board sales. Still, the 3800mhz CL14 is one of the top B-Die options available, making it ideal for overclocking.

Thanks for being open. It doesn’t really affect me much because I finally have the funds and equipment to actually try this out.
