I own an AMD Ryzen 7 3700X and am unsure if the power area on the MSI B450 TOMAHAWK MAX will suffice for this chip. Could the heat buildup be a concern? Might the processor automatically lower its speed to prevent overheating? Perhaps opting for the MSI MAG B550 TOMAHAWK would be a safer choice?
If the CPU isn't compatible, it won't be able to post. And yes, this chipset works fine.
When VRMs are overheating or running too hot, CPUs may slow down. Since the 3700X doesn’t consume much power, a mid-range card such as the B450 Tomahawk should perform well.
Considering the performance needs, the MSI MAG B550 TOMAHAWK might be a solid choice for this CPU.
If you're not looking to upgrade, the B550 Tomahawk may not be worth your investment.
