I recently acquired an i5-10600k for a new ITX gaming setup. I won’t be pushing it overclocked (opted for the K variant due to a big sale), but I’ll be using high-speed RAM at 3600MHz. The ASUS ROG Strix B460-I fits my budget, being about $100 cheaper than a Z490 board. On the B460 boards, memory speeds are capped around 2933MHz and can’t be overclocked. I’m curious how this speed limit might impact game performance and whether it could lead to throttling from higher VRM temperatures.
Intel likely won’t offer much, but you’ll probably need that extra $100 to get the extra performance from faster RAM speeds.
