Hi, a few months back I upgraded my 5-year-old PC with an R7 5700X and a 6900XT. I learned that some UEFI updates for the 3000 series supported PCIE 4.0 on the Asus Prime X370 Pro. I wondered if the same was possible with the 5700X. According to GPU-Z, my GPU is at PCIE 3.0. I’m pretty sure it’s not possible, though I couldn’t locate an option in my UEFI to switch to PCIE 2.0. The feature to change revisions seems missing or unclear. I tried v6026 and v6042 but didn’t find anything. Thanks!

According to what I understand, those BIOS versions only appeared when the 3000 line was available (and wouldn’t work with the 5000 line) and were designed specifically for 400-series boards. The physical traces on 300-series boards likely can’t handle Gen 4 features.

Check the manual; the choice could exist under Onboard Devices.

The 6900XT features an x16 port with all pins, making it functionally similar to a PCI-E 3.0 x16 slot. This doesn't impose any restrictions on its performance.

The Asus Prime X370 Pro fully backed the 3000 series. I checked, but the choice to adjust the revision wasn’t available.

I understand it wouldn’t really matter with an x16 card, yet I still decided to give it a shot. However, I wasn’t able to locate the chance to lower it to 2.0.
