Hello everyone, I'm just starting out with hackintosh and want to give OS X a shot since I've never used it before. I own a desktop with parts that should work on OS X—like an Asus TUF Sabertooth Z87, a Samnsung EVO 240GB, a Seagate Barracuda 2TB, an Intel Core I5-4670K, Crucial Ballistix 8GB, an MSI GTX 770 Gaming Edition. I've already installed Windows 8.1 on my Samsung Evo 240GB and now want to try installing OS X on my Seagate Barracuda drive (a second partition of 1TB). The first partition holds Windows data, so I can't delete it completely. I've heard Niresh is useful and made a bootable USB, but I'm not sure what to do next. Should I install the bootloader first (and then Chameleon or Clover), or wait until after Niresh is done? My main goal is to avoid losing data, so I'm being patient and gathering more details. I hope someone can help me out—this would be a shame if it fails, but it's worth a try. If you need more info, just ask! Thanks for your patience.
You only need to use the Nirish USB created version. No changes required in the BIOS. I’ll give it a try this evening.
Your hard drive should be configured for ACHI, which you already did because you have an SSD. There should be a setting to switch to 64-bit, but you might have missed it. Be careful with your graphics card—use the one built into your board (DVI).
another issue I’m facing is that I can’t start from the USB. I damaged the ISO file from Niresh on my USB drive using Isotibiosb, but now when I try to boot from it, Windows launches instead of the intended system. The secure boot feature appears in my BIOS, yet selecting the USB still leads to a Windows launch.
