You're using a Dell prebuilt system for Minecraft and Plex, upgrading from 8GB to 16GB RAM. The current Task Manager shows 7.5GB used under medium load—upgrading should free up space. This setup likely uses standard DDR3 RAM, and it's generally compatible with most modern systems. ECC memory isn't required here since you're not running critical applications that need it. Your chosen HP 1x16GB model should work fine, just confirm the RAM type matches your motherboard specifications.

Sure, please share your system details so I can give you the right information. Knowing the CPU model and mainboard chipset helps determine compatible RAM specifications. Also, if you're using an Intel i-series processor, ECC memory won't be supported.

You're checking if you're inserting another stick or replacing two. This is typical for DDR3, and only servers use ECC. ECC won't function properly on consumer devices except for some unbuffered setups, but it's generally not practical for regular use. Most consumer boards don't support ECC beyond a few models.

It would help to know the exact number of RAM slots if you want a better suggestion.

Hello, you have two RAM slots available, so a 2x8 kit would be ideal. The processor is an i5 4590 running Windows 10. The motherboard you mentioned is listed at the provided link, and it indicates supported memory types but isn’t clear on exact specifications. If you’re looking for a reliable replacement at a reasonable price, I recommend checking popular options like the Kingston Memory 2x8 or Crucial 2x8 kits.

Offer the Hynix stick for sale and purchase two matched 8GB 1333/1600 bare PCBs RAM, all consumer 8GB DDR3 are dual-sided. Used market typically has a good supply of these DDR3 dimms, generally under $20 per stick.
