I’m trying to find the most affordable AMD FX processor right now. Since I can’t afford a new motherboard, I need to look for budget-friendly options that still work well.

It's wise to switch to Ryzen, as this system is quite outdated now.

I understand, but I’m focusing on getting a fresh CPU. This one has been in use for years, and it’s starting to fail. It’s been running daily for more than four years now, but it’s overheating and its performance is plummeting lately. I need a new FX CPU to keep things going until I can afford the rest of the upgrades.

The main benefit of choosing AM3+ is having additional cores, such as an 8320. However, the single-core performance won’t improve, which is typically what users seek when upgrading (especially for gaming). I wouldn’t recommend spending extra money on your existing system unless you can buy it cheaply or if you require more cores.

Perhaps consider an 8120, though the upgrade won't be a big deal. It's smarter to save up your money and wait for a platform update instead.

You have options like FX 6300 and 8350, but the results won't be very strong.

I should have mentioned in the original comment that my CPU is struggling, overheating often and impacting basic tasks like watching videos. It’s clear I need a replacement right away. Looking for the top FX CPUs at affordable prices would be ideal.

Consider checking second-hand stores for a basic Ryzen processor.

You might find any model from the 8000 series suitable, but the early Ryzen chips would likely offer a significant performance boost.

With the 1600AF around, AM3+ seems outdated. It's better to opt for something simpler—an 1600AF with 8 Gigs will keep things affordable and straightforward.
