I've been so occupied I didn't notice this discussion. Cool points always come up. Now I'm thinking about getting a 1TB SSD and installing POP_OS. I'm just keeping it flexible with the idea of 'enjoy the process, see what works and what doesn't.'

Besides playing games, I genuinely favor Linux over Windows, especially since Windows 10. I moved my laptop to Ubuntu 20.04 last year because I dislike the hassle of repeatedly removing unwanted software from Microsoft’s updates. I delete Cortana, Edge, Maps, etc., since I don’t need them, yet they reappear after an update. Some features, like the “News and Interests” section, only show up on Linux. Removing programs leaves them gone permanently. Major updates rarely disrupt my desktop setup. The biggest hiccup for me was a May update that broke search functionality on my Windows 10 desktop. I can’t use search in Explorer or the Start Menu unless I switch to a new account created after the change. I haven’t had an update break anything on Linux since 2014, whereas Windows 10 often forces me to search online for fixes or undo unwanted changes.

I run both Windows 10 and Fedora 34, but I mainly use Windows for gaming since it performs better there. Outside of gaming, I believe Linux is a strong option. The main challenge is picking a distribution that fits my needs.

I've really started enjoying POP_os after testing it out. I just got the newest version (21.04) and am planning to try it out.

I rely on system76 gear, yet I’ve come to dislike Gnome over the years. The Cosmic Desktop appeals, but I still favor my DWM configuration.
