I've been assisting a friend with assembling his PC and we reached the graphics card stage. It seems the heatsink on the motherboard prevents proper fit—just rests against it instead of sitting securely. Are there any motherboards you can confirm will accommodate the graphics card? It seems gigabyte designed the heatsink to be taller than expected, which could cause compatibility issues for most GPUs. Interestingly, the side of the card is positioned in a fairly consistent spot. Are you certain the motherboard fits properly inside the case, or is there something else affecting it?

Consider this suggestion. The heatsink should not be taller than the PCI Express slot next to it. If it is, it might indicate a manufacturing flaw, but more likely points to an installation issue with the motherboard.

I own a comparable X570 Aorus Pro with the fan and heatsink, and I successfully mounted a 3-fan RTX3080 directly on top without any problems. It seems a smaller 2-fan RX6700XT should work too.

Thanks for the support. My friend is really upset and anxious because it didn’t work right away, so he’s planning to pause for now and try again later. I’ll let you know tomorrow if we have an update. Appreciate the encouragement!

You sure its the heat sink and not the locking tab on the back of the PCIe slot that is in the locked position? It has to be open for the GPU to get into the slot. Also check that the middle case stand-off for the motherboard is there or else the motherboard might bow down, creating this issue. (the one for the screw hole right above the heat sink) As others her has said, the clearance tolerances is standardized for this, so the heat sink should not be an issue unless it is a manufacturing error.
